Created by a group of employees from the education department, archives and exhibits department, Dallas Historicals creates educational games focused on Texas History, using the resources available from the Dallas Historical Society’s collection.

Texas History Trail Card Game

Players compete to score points as they draw event cards and place them in order, creating a timeline of Texas history. This game has ben designed to align with the current 7th grade Texas curriculum standards for teaching state history. The artwork, photography, artifacts and documents used are from the Dallas Historical Society’s archive. Created as a teaching tool, this game is great for educators and fans of history everywhere.

Mexican-American War Poker Deck

This deck of playing cards is a reproduction of an late 1840’s-era deck of playing cards made by C.L. Wüst of Frankfurt, Germany, commemorating the Mexican-American War (1846 – 1848) following the U.S. annexation of Texas. The original artifact, owned by the Dallas Historical Society, was displayed at the 2007 Republic to Statehood exhibit, as part of its Lex Johnston Republic of Texas Collection. The cards depict key battles and heroes such as Maj. Gen. Zachary Taylor, later the 12th U.S. president, and Brig. Gen. William J. Worth, for whom the city of Fort Worth, Texas is named.
