Dallas History Items: Railroads Come to Dallas

Railroads Come to Dallas

Two railroad lines began to pass through Dallas in the early 1870s. With the trains came entrepreneurs looking to transform the town into a thriving metropolis. The two railroads were the Houston & Texas Central and the Texas & Pacific; the entrepreneurs included the Sanger brothers, who founded a department store.
