Dallas History Items: Texas Centennial Exposition

In 1936, Texas celebrated its 100th anniversary of independence. Centennial celebrations were held all over the state, but only Dallas hosted the Texas Centennial Exposition that was visited by President Franklin Roosevelt, Amelia Earhart, Ginger Rogers, and many other celebrities. This world's fair recruited artists and architects from all over the nation and all over the world to put the Exposition together; much of their work can still be seen at Fair Park. This page features a few pictures from the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition.

So, fresh from the can, Queen Lillian Heard of the National Dairy Show, pours a generous libation of the lactic fluid into the cup of her guest queen, Miss Delores Keyes of Spencer, Wisc. Miss Keyes is the Dairy Queen of Wisconsin. The Queens met at the National Dairy Show at the Texas Centennial Exposition, Dallas."Dairy Queens at Centennial Exposition
