In January, 1971, Braniff International inaugurated its Boeing 747 service with a multi-city tour. The vivid orange plane, which came to be known as "Fat Albert," flew the Dallas Love Field to Honolulu route for eleven years. The double-deck configuration of the plane required new emergency evacuation training for flight crews. Industry requirements were 25 seconds for the main deck and 30 seconds for the upper deck. Braniff set an industry record by evacuating the new 747 in 19.8 seconds their first attempt.
A new color scheme was introduced marking 747 service. "Pucci IV" returned to a multi-component uniform. Mixing eight garments made in pale solid pink Quiana and vivid Pucci prints, hostesses were able to achieve twenty-five different combinations. Among the new garments were pajama-style trousers and hot pants. During the early Seventies women began wearing pants in the workplace.
Emilio Pucci designed his last Braniff uniform in 1974. "Pucci V" and "Pucci VI" combined turquoise and green polyester solids withswirling Pucci prints.
