Dallas Historical Society Internships
The DHS Internships are 10 weeks in length, 15 hours per week for a total internship experience of 150 hours. Each Spring/Summer/Fall the DHS takes up to 3 interns in the collections/archives department and up to 2 in educational department. Internships are paid depending upon funding. Positions available: Offered every spring, summer, and fall. Dates vary.
The Dallas Historical Society seeks individuals who wish to gain practical experience in a professional archival and museum setting. Projects may include organizing and describing archival materials, assisting with the preservation of collection items, working on a larger collection with a staff member, or assisting with overall collections management and care.
Intern will assist the Educational Director in various tasks, including giving tours, transcribing oral histories, working with school children and editing educational material to remain up-to-date with current state curriculum requirements.
- Internships are open to both graduate and undergraduate students.
- Minimum 2.75 GPA overall, minimum 3.25 in related field (History, Museum Studies, Library Science or other related field)
- Successful completion of at least twelve (12) hours of university course work in a major or minor in related field
