Dallas Historical Society Internships

The DHS Internships are 12 weeks in length, 8 hours per week for a total internship experience of approx. 100 hours. Each Spring/Summer/Fall the DHS takes up to 3 interns in the collections/archives department. Positions available: Offered every spring  and summer. Dates vary.


Collections Interns

The Dallas Historical Society seeks individuals who wish to gain practical experience in a professional archival and museum setting. Projects may include organizing and describing archival materials, assisting with the preservation of collection items, working on a larger collection with a staff member, or assisting with overall collections management and care.


Requirements

  • Internships are open to both graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Preferred major in a related field (History, Museum Studies, Library Science or other related field)
  • Preferred completion of at least twelve (12) hours of university course work in a major or minor in related field

Deadlines

Applications for Spring term must be received by December 1. Applications for Summer term must be received by April 1. Applications for Fall term must be received by August 1.
